In case you really want to check out multiplayer, you should try it on Call of Pripyat. Steam uses 1.0005, you can only join servers if they have 1.0005. Multiplayer has a few slight changes (faster walking speed, equip speed etc.) but otherwise it plays the same.Īlso, most servers run on the 1.0006 patch, which caused several problems and was called back by the devs. You shoot other players or capture the flag if playing that mode. It's not a permanent rank up or anything. I say 'local' because ranks only apply to that match. Once you reach a rank, you can buy better stuff.
Again, when you do stuff, you will eventually go up a rank. If you die, the game auto-buys your previous stuff once you respawn. You'll also lose your current stuff on death and it can be picked by either you or other players. You use the money to buy equipment and you have limited amount of money so you can't keep buying everything. In a match, when you get kills or capture artifacts etc, you'll get money. The multiplayer has a weird Counter-Strike style money system. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Artifact hunt modes.
